The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, commonly known as Martyn's Law, is the UK's first piece of legislation specifically designed to improve protective security at public venues and events. It was born out of tragedy and exists for an important reason. Since it was passed, it has understandably raised questions and caused some concern, particularly for those planning events or renting out spaces within their communities.

Join Alex Jay, Managing Director of Little Green Button, for a no nonsense, jargon free look at what the legislation actually means in practical terms for local councils. What does it require, what does it not require, and what does a proportionate response actually look like? If you have been unsure where to start, or worried the bar is higher than it needs to be, this session is for you.

Little Green Button is a UK-based safety technology company specialising in digital panic alarms and lone worker protection. Working across healthcare, education and local government, Little Green Button helps organisations meet their duty of care to staff and the people they serve.

Alex has expertise in staff safety, lone worker risk and the practical challenges organisations face in keeping people safe at work. He works closely with frontline teams and senior leaders to translate legislation and best practice into solutions that are simple, effective and accessible.

You will discover:

  • What Martyn's Law actually requires, and what it doesn't, for smaller venues and local councils.
  • The most common misconceptions about the legislation and why they matter.
  • How to start thinking about a practical, proportionate response without overcomplicating it.
